DeskDemon.com is an established Internet service, providing the working professional with all the tools and resources needed for today's office in one convenient location. It is a complete on-line package bringing tangible benefits through savings in time, cost and stress from everyday tasks, resulting in an improved work experience. The company and web site were founded to bring a new era to working professionals by providing them with a definitive and indispensable on-line resource. Lightwood's involvement began in November 2000 with an initial brief to create a content management system (CMS) that would simplify the day-to-day task of keeping news, stories and features on the web site up to date. The new site design had been decided and required the CMS to act like to a desktop publishing application so that different pieces of content, often written by completely different authors, could be placed anywhere on the page to create a magazine style. Since January 2001, every page on the DeskDemon.com web site has been written, constructed and served using this CMS. The same content management engine was used to create SiteDemon. Launched in July 2001, SiteDemon allows anyone who can use a word processor to construct their own company or personal web site quickly and easily. "We wanted a world class system, that would allow us to compete on a global basis. At the same time it needed to be easy enough to use so that our community members, who generally would not have a technical background, would be able to use it themselves. Basically we wanted to have our cake and eat it too. Well, Lightwood delivered!" explains Managing Director, Mek Rahmani. "With SiteDemon, anyone can create a site the same way we manage DeskDemon.com on a daily basis, and we've seen admin staff with no knowledge of web design putting together web sites quite literally in minutes". In October 2001, DeskDemon.com merged with The Admin Authority, a US-based community of Admin staff, to create the largest online community in the world for office professionals. The Hub was born, a set of lively discussion forums which were integrated with the existing user databases and web-based office tools. The content management system was enhanced to detect where a member connects from and accordingly present the site with suitable navigation. This way, the menus contain localised links for British and American members. In the pipeline is DeskDemon.fr, a French language community and the first of many European expansions for DeskDemon.com.
